I'm Brando Yelavich, a devoted husband to my incredible wife of over 10 years and a proud father of two adventurous boys. My family is at the heart of everything I do and the reason I strive to leave everything a little better than I found it.
At 19 years old, I became the first person to walk the entire coastline of New Zealand. Over 600 days and 8,700 kilometres, I lived almost entirely off the land, navigating some of the country's most remote and unforgiving environments. What began as an escape from a difficult chapter of life became a journey of self-discovery that changed the course of my future.
That experience taught me that nature is one of life's greatest teachers. It showed me that growth comes through challenge, resilience is earned, and that we all have the capacity to become more than we believe possible.
Since then, I've crossed the Greenland Icecap, kayaked around Vancouver Island, explored the Nepalese Himalayas, journeyed around Stewart Island, cycled across Australia, and taken on survival challenges in some of the world's harshest environments. Along the way, I've released an award-winning documentary, become a bestselling author, and had the privilege of sharing my story with audiences across New Zealand.
Today, my purpose is simple.
To inspire people to see their own potential, reconnect with the natural world, embrace challenge, and understand that ordinary people are capable of extraordinary things.
Whether I'm exploring remote wilderness, speaking in schools, sharing stories online, or simply raising my two boys, I'm guided by one belief that my father instilled in me as a child: Leave everything a little better than you found it.
I believe the world changes one action at a time, and that every one of us has the ability to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and in the places we call home.
